We volunteer in the soup kitchen
This is one of the soup kitchen days. We are volunteering in Harvesters Soup Kitchen at Holy Cross Church. We make soup and give it out along with sandwiches to the community.
We participate in our Church activities
We join in our Church Hospitality on Sundays, after the 11:30 am Mass, where we share our Blessings and fellowship in prayer. There is much inspiration and encouragement. Many people have had healing and have felt uplifted.
We work under the inspiration of Blessed Fr. Michael McGivney, the founder.
We are a newly established council here in the center of the city of Manhattan, and work on our Faith-Love-Joy doing charitable works to honor our God.
We support the Sisters of Life
We are located near the Sisters of Life, and we are so happy that we can help support their worthy calling of Pro-Life!
KNIGHTLY NEWS - VOLUME 11, 12/01/2024, COUNCIL 18332, ST. HELENA OF THE CROSS
Worthy Knights, thanks to all who contributed to our last fundraiser of this year, including the Knights who came to see the Thanksgiving Special Show, in honor of all the volunteers who had made sacrifices to serve others, for the 8th year of the Harvesters Soup Kitchen, Hospitality, and the new Ladies Auxiliary!
It is also so good to know, from what I have learned in a book that I got from the McGivney museum when we had a trip there back in September of 2024, that before the Knights of Columbus were established, Blessed Fr. Michael McGivney actually brought the men (and eventually, women) of his parish together to perform plays. By providing this form of “entertainment” of working together (Unity), making “entertainment” among of the Knights (Fraternity), & raising money for them to help others (Charity), he laid the foundation of what we now have today, the Knights of Columbus!
Thanks to your willingness and desire to put together our first show of November 23rd, 2024, we raised close to $800 from a full house, and it is the highest of all three fundraisers! The feedback we received was very positive! People came from near and far, like Uruguay, visiting our Church. They were so happy to see our show and so thankful that they even brought me a gift… I am so thankful to all of you who joined in with me and were willing to do all this work together. “The one who sings (sacred music) prays twice”-St. Augustine
We will end our final Council meeting of this year on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 from 1-2PM+ in the Church Hall with a Social Hour where we will take care of some business and enjoy each other’s company with refreshments, pool, etc. in the spirit of the Christmas season. It is my wish that as many of you as are able will come together to celebrate the end of a very successful year and just enjoy each other’s company and get to know each other better.
We are also looking into joining up with the K of C Council #327 on W 48th St for their Seasonal Party in early January. We’ll keep you posted.
The next Officers Meeting will be on Saturday, January 18th, 1-1:30pm on Zoom.
Please go to our new website at www.kofc-sthelena.org since our original website is no longer viable. Please read the information on this new website to learn more about the Knights, including next year’s meeting schedule.
Finally, our prayers have been answered again! Past Trustee, Peter Solberg will be joining us and the soup kitchen again! Welcome back Peter and thank you Jesus!
Vivat Jesus!
